Zerds

The Zerds are a secretive race whose origins are not known. It is a belief in many of the races of Elekton that when someone feels they are growing old, they voyage to the fabled land of Hellas, also known as 'The Land of No Return'.

This is achieved by taking a boat down the fast flowing River Pyx to a vast underground entryway. It is believed that there, the person will live out their last days free of pain or suffering.

The reality is vastly different however. The land of Hellas does exist and is ruled over by the Zerds. These brutish humanoids use the people who journey there as an unwitting and unwilling slave race, who spend the rest of their mercifully short lives mining the vast caverns for precious metals. Outside the caverns is the main city of the Zerds and there they live in luxury in splendour. The Zerds themselves seem to do little work as they have their workforce supplied for them.

Work never stops in Hellas as one shift stops to rest as another takes over. The Zerds are armed, but they expect little resistance.

The comfortable way of life of the Zerds was brought to an abrupt halt when Janno, who had landed in the river after a mid air collision crashed a captured Zerd gravity card into the cavern mouth of the River Pyx, flooding the cavern.

The slaves decided to fight and found their way out through a narrow stairway. It is assumed that all the Zerds perished in the resulting flood.
